Watson Gale
Watson Gale is Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Canadian Blood Services as well as being an officer of the organization's two wholly-owned captive insurance subsidiaries. Watson is responsible for overseeing CBS's legal activities across Canada and is closely linked with the risk management and government relations functions of the organization. He also works extensively with the Board of Directors and the executive management team on governance and strategic matters.
Watson joined Canadian Blood Services in 2001 after practicing at a major national law firm where he was a partner. He brings to his role over twenty-five years legal experience in the fields of health organizations, health care systems and delivery, technology, governance and not-for-profit organizations.
Mr. Gale has his LLB from the University of Ottawa and a B. Comm. from Queen's University at Kingston. Watson is a member of the Law Societies of Ontario, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association as well as the International Bar Association where he has worked on various issues, including the development of international conventions on telehealth and telemedicine.
Watson is a Chartered Director as granted by The Directors College and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Stroke Network.
