Richard Patten

Mr. Richard Patten currently works at Plasco Energy Group in Ottawa, Canada as a Special Advisor to the company in government relations and public affairs. He began his life in the public service with the Ontario legislature for one term from 1987 to 1990. In 1995, he represented Ottawa Centre and was re-elected in 1999 and 2003. Within the government he held a variety of position such as Minister of Government Services and Minister Correctional Services. As opposition he served in a number of critic roles including Labour and Housing, Education, Science and Technology and most recently as Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier.

Prior to his life in the public service, Mr. Patten had an extensive career in Canada and abroad working with the YMCA. He held a number of senior management positions and has travelled extensively throughout Africa, the Middle East and South America.  Mr. Patten was also the President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation from 1990 to 1995 and served as the president of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC).
