Dr. John R. Rutherford

After undergraduate degrees BSc (RMC) and BEng (McGill), Dr. Rutherford earned an MA (Queen's) and a PhD (Virginia Tech) in 1966.

He served in the Canadian Army, taught mathematics at Royal Military College, did industrial research at the DuPont Laboratories in Kingston, and worked in Ottawa with Health and Welfare, the Office of the Auditor General, and Treasury Board Secretariat.

Over the years, results have been produced in indistrial product and process development, research and special studies in public administration, legislative value for money audit, program and project management, statistical and management consulting, training, teaching and academic research.

Currently, a member of Statistical Society of Canada, he received a Founder Recognition Award in 1998 for helping found the Society in the early 1970s.

Since retiring in 1989, Dr. Rutherford has continued involvement as a volunteer and board member of non profit corporations including Unitarian House of Ottawa, Salvation Army Grace Manor, and the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research.
