Eyepieces, also known as oculars, are the lens at the top that you look through.  They are usually 10X or 15X power.

There are two eyepiece designs. The simplest type is the Huygenian eyepiece. This is found on most teaching and laboratory microscopes fitted with achromatic objectives. The other main kind of eyepiece is the positive eyepiece with a diaphragm below its lenses, commonly known as the Ramsden eyepiece. To provide better correction, the two lenses of the Ramsden eyepiece may be cemented together.

Functions of eyepiece in the microscope:
