IMHR Researchers

Kelly, Owen (PhD)

Dr. Kelly is currently investigating how appraisal and coping processes confer either resistance or vulnerability to illness (e.g., major depression) in the face of stressful events. In addition, Dr. Kelly is examining whether additional factors such as parental bonding, traumatic experiences early in life, and self-esteem influence the relationship between these processes and the development mental illness. He is also investigating the relationship between psychological processes and biological markers of stress, including hormone release. In addition to publishing scientific papers, Dr. Kelly has given courses and lectures on Neuroscience, Stress, Health Psychology and Research Design and Statistics. Dr. Kelly is a Research Associate at the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research and a Adjunct Research Professor and Lecturer at Carleton University.
