Robert Milin (MD)

Robert Milin is a clinician and researcher with a background in child, adolescent and addiction psychiatry. Dr. Milin achieved his specialty certification in Psychiatry in 1989. In 1990, he completed a Clinical Fellowship in combined Addiction and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and completed his postgraduate training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In 1993, he attained his Diploma in the subspecialty of Psychiatry with Added Qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry form the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Milin is currently the Director of the Adolescent Day Treatment Unit, Youth Psychiatry Program, Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre; Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of Research for the David Smith Centre for Youth Drug and Alcohol Treatment; Coordinator of Research, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, University of Ottawa; Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa; and is the former Clinical Director of the Youth Psychiatry Program and Regional Children's Mental Health Centre.

Dr. Milin has received a number of awards most recently the Faculty Research Award in 2004. He has also been the recipient of a number of research grants in the areas of adolescent/young adult substance use disorders, psychopharmacology of child and adolescent disorders,genetic study of adolescent onset major depression and program evaluative outcome and follow-up. Dr. Milin has published numerous studies in addiction psychiatry and treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders.

He also has presented his research extensively at national and international conferences. Dr. Milin as a visiting professor and invited lecturer has presented in the areas of addiction and child and adolescent psychiatry at many national and international forums. Dr. Milin is an experienced clinician and researcher with content expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry, addictions and early onset major psychiatric disorders.
